INTRODUCTION TO Clapham

Clapham is notable for its mix of modern and period architecture, with its grand mansion esque period houses dating back centuries, coupled with its massive escalation in housing development post WW2 to now – makes this area of South West London both unique and highly desirable.

Going out for a meal? We will list the best places to eat and try below, but it’s worth mentioning there’s a wealth of restaurants available and it’s worth visiting to fully appreciate the variety on offer.

STREET FOOD, BARS & RESTAURANTS

To begin our Clapham Area guide, we’re going to cover some of the many restaurants, cafés and bars which promote much of the area’s excitement. Many of these places can be found either on along Clapham High Street or scattered around Clapham Common. Megan’s is always popular with young couples and friends for those much-needed catch-ups. The Rookery is another notable addition to Clapham’s array of lunch & dinner venues. Finally, if deserts are more your speed then Madeleine & Sweet Smile Patisserie, have got you covered!

For those more interested in beer, spirit and wine-drinking No. 32 The Old Town and historic Abberville Pub should be high on your list! You also have a number of bars and Nightclubs to choose from including: Revolutions Bar, Infernos and The Clapham Grand.

Transport & the Historic Clapham Junction

Established in 1863 Clapham Junction station is one of the busiest interchanges in Europe. With more the 2,000 trains passing through on a daily basis, you can be sure that you’ll find a train to get you where you need to go.

Clapham further benefits from multiple Tube stations with: Clapham South, Clapham Common & Clapham North all located along the Northern Line connecting to the City.
